The Grieving Project Musical

The Grieving Project Musical

Synopsis

While the whole world deals with the outbreak of a global pandemic in 2020, Lis, a 47-year old artist struggling with her own rare chronic illness for twelve years, is stuck: getting blood infusions, with a chronic disease, at home, unable to write new music, and now with a pandemic… She desperately needs inspiration to write music again and yearns for her art-her life-to have meaning, purpose, and to be validated and thrive, while homebound. When Lis learns she is a finalist in the emPower Arts Competition, The Grieving Project, she doubts her own ability to write and perform a new song for the quickly approaching deadline (seven days). Lis encounters three other finalists on a podcast, thriving artists with disabilities, Danica, Charli and Brandon, each battling a different illness. They help Lis realize she’s never grieved her illness, so she can discover what grieving is. Lis wants desperately to just move past grief and on with her song and life, but must accept the hard truth that without confronting her truth and her grief, she may never fully thrive. She also may never be done grieving.
